Throwback Thursday…fall foliage painting

I painted this 18×22 oil on canvas piece last summer when I took Dawn Whitelaw’s “Painting From a Reference Photo” workshop at Warehouse 521. I still haven’t written a blog post about that workshop but I intend to do so at some point. It was an incredible workshop and I learned so much from Dawn for whom I have the upmost respect and admiration.

This painting isn’t nearly as old as those featured in my previous Throwback Thursday posts, but I thought it was very fitting given the time of year.

And here is the reference photo I used…which I think is stunning! This photo was taken just down the road from my parents’ home and this tree always turns the most gorgeous fiery orange in the fall.

The reference photo I used; this photo was taken by my parents' house.
